Cultural Resource Survey of Seven Miles of Hitchcock Parkway Aiken, South Carolina

"The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) proposes widening Hitchcock Parkway (SC 118) between near Silver Bluff Road (SC 302) and Richland Avenue (Jefferson Davis Highway/US 1), which will include adding an additional travel lane in each direction, and improvements at various intersecting routes with Hitchcock Parkway. The project area under survey extends approximately seven miles along Hitchcock Parkway and intersecting roads. Figure 1 shows the project area and the location of cultural resources within the project area as well as other pertinent cultural features. Figure 2 provides a close-up of the northern portion of the project area where most resources were identified."
