资源简介:
This dataset consists of coding query data supporting the qualitative analysis in Confidence and uncertainty: Small-scale, direct-marketing vegetable farmers' relationship with climate change adaptation and mitigation. The excerpts in this dataset are the disembodied fragments of the interview transcripts that were coded using the final code book to generate study findings. All potentially identifying information has been redacted.

The study employed a series of semi-structured qualitative interviews with small-scale, direct-to-consumer vegetable farmers in Washington State to examine the relationship this group has with climate-smart agriculture. Interviews took place between between April 4 and June 26, 2024. Recorded interviewers were transcribed, and the interviews transcripts were qualitatively analyzed using principals of thematic analysis. The research plan was submitted to the University of Washington Human Subjects Division (HSD) and deemed exempt. HSD does not review consent plans for exempt research. All participants were informed their participation was voluntary and that they could skip a question or terminate the interview at any time. Participants were informed that interviews would be recorded and asked whether they consented to the interview and recording. All participants provided verbal consent to the interview and recording. Prior to consenting to the interview that the data would be used in an anonymized form to prepare scholarly work and/or reports for farm service organizations, and that nothing shared during the interview would be connected back to their name or their business. Once consent was given, the recording was started, and participants were asked to once again confirm their consent to recording.

All coding query excerpts have been reviewed, and all potentially identifying information has been redacted. Redacted information appears in {} within the text. Excerpts are presented in alphabetical order and are not grouped by or linked to participant ID to avoid reconstruction of larger/contiguous passages and indirect reidentification. Excerpts that include participant demographic information have not been included since they cannot be reasonably deidentified. Participant demographic information is presented in aggregate in Table 1 of the associated manuscript.

File Description: The data consists of a single .xlsx file containing 5 columns and 542 rows of data including the header.

Variables:Excerpt – The selected portion of a transcribed interview Category, Parent Code, Code, Child Code – Codes from the codebook that were applied to the selected excerpt. Some excerpts may have more than one category, parent code, or code. Not all codes have a child code, as indicated by a blank in this column. The data is complete without missing values. See appendix S2 in associated manuscript for complete codebook.
