Discovery and characterization of zoonotic viruses with multi-species, multi-organ bat organoids (bulk RNA-seq)

To comprehensively understand host-virus interactions and evaluate spillover risks, we developed a set of bat organoid models representing five species (Rhinolophus ferrumequinum, Myotis aurascens, Pipistrellus abramus, Eptesicus serotinus, Hypsugo alaschanicus) and four organs (trachea, bronchi/alveoli, kidney, small intestine). These models exhibit species- and organ-specific pathological responses to various zoonotic viruses and provide a powerful platform for screening, isolating, and characterizing emerging and re-emerging viruses
