Optimising risk prediction, antenatal interventions and treatment targets in hyperglycaemia in pregnancy

I have explored hyperglycaemia in pregnancy across risk prediction, antenatal interventions and glucose treatment target impacts on maternal and neonatal outcomes. My work included i) reviews to identify knowledge gaps ii) assessment of clinical and biochemical risk factors for gestational diabetes (GDM) iii) epidemiological analysis from my integrated dataset of 70,000 pregnancies across maternity services and iv) translation activities. Epidemiological analyses explored the impact on pregnancy outcomes of: glucose treatment targets in GDM; type 1 and type 2 diabetes; concomitant obesity; and pump based insulin delivery. This thesis advances knowledge on hyperglycaemia impact and treatment in pregnancy.
