Vegetation surveys in Cuyama Valley, CA, USA in 2016 and 2017 at the peak of megadrought

Vegetation surveys were used to identify the relative abundance patterns of plants with shrubs within the Cuyama Valley, CA. Plants were counted within 0.5m quadrats placed under shrubs and at paired-open microsite without a canopy. The shrub species Ephedra californica was the dominant woody plant regionally, and all patches with at least 25 shrubs present were sampled to some extent. This survey supports other work including manipulative experiments and climate tracking research.本研究采用植被调查方法，明确了美国加利福尼亚州卡马谷（Cuyama Valley）内灌丛伴生植物的相对多度分布格局。调查人员在灌丛下方以及配对设置的无冠层开阔微生境内的0.5平方米样方中统计植株数量。区域优势木本植物为加州麻黄（Ephedra californica），本研究对所有包含至少25株灌丛的斑块均开展了不同程度的采样工作。本次植被调查可为包括操控性实验、气候追踪研究在内的多项相关研究提供数据支持。
