Data and scripts from: Genetic diversity tracks stream fish responses to severe disturbance from wildfire

Microsatellite genotype data for eight species sampled from the Gila River, New Mexico, USA in 2010, 2012, and 2014. Associated R scripts filter the data according to a minimum sample size criterion (n = 10 individuals/site), perform Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium tests, linkage disequilibrium tests, and calculates summary statistics allelic richness (AR) and population differentiation (FST). Additional scripts create plots for the publication. A second data source is from affiliated ecological studies that consists of fish counts and area sampled by site from 2008 to 2017. The associated R script calculates species density per site per year and occurrence (i.e., naïve occupancy) as supporting information describing the demographic impacts of severe wildfires that occurred 2011-2013. In order to validate the proposed heuristic model and help interpret empirical data, population genetic simulations were implemented using software Nemo (version 2.3.56). Included are the parameter files for setting up each simulation scenario and raw output from the simulated metapopulations. The associated R script performs filtering of the simulation output, calculates summary statistics, and plots results.
