Data and interactive visualisation tool accompanying: Ibezim F.C., Charles R., Worsley C., Watson T., Potts S.-J., Martincigh B. & Davies M.L., Material Supply Chains for Mesoporous Carbon Perovskite Solar Cell (MCPSC) Manufacturing in Africa: Availability, Processing Capacity and Localisation Potential (submitted to RSC Sustainability). The deposit maps where Africa holds the raw materials, processing capacity and industrial infrastructure required to manufacture carbon-stack perovskite solar modules domestically: graphite, lead, titanium minerals (ilmenite, rutile, leucoxene), zircon, iodine and float glass — together with carbon black production and the lead-acid battery trade that sustains the continent's secondary lead supply. From v2.2.0 it also carries the full cumulative-capacity calculation: how much module capacity Africa's mineral stock could support in total, from reported reserves and from reserves plus non-overlapping company-reported resources. Stoichiometric conversion factors are live formulas computed from standard atomic masses rather than hard-coded constants; the reporting basis is stated for every reserve row; and every company-reported resource estimate is listed with its inclusion or exclusion decision and the reason for that decision, so the reserves-plus-resources totals can be recomputed under a stricter or looser overlap rule without re-deriving anything. Sources and conventions Reserves: USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries 2026. Production: BGS World Mineral Production 2020-2024 and USGS estimates, supplemented by company and government sources where countries fall outside USGS/BGS coverage. Trade: World Bank WITS / UN Comtrade, reference year 2023, with partner-reported ("mirror") series used where countries do not report and both bases flagged throughout. Both statistical agencies restate earlier years in each new edition, and for several African producers those restatements exceed the year-on-year changes being described. Each series is therefore drawn from a single edition throughout rather than spliced; the restatement test itself is included. Where a producing country reports no reserve, the value is left missing rather than estimated, and no resource figure is substituted for a reserve figure. Reported titanium tonnages are contained TiO2 whereas the device requirement is a mass of titanium metal, so titanium precursor figures are computed on contained titanium after stoichiometric conversion. Mineral resources are normally reported inclusive of the ore reserves derived from them, so a resource estimate is admitted to the reserves-plus-resources totals only where the source states it to be exclusive of ore reserves, or where the host country reports no national reserve for that mineral. Every quantitative element of the Atlas traces to a referenced row in the master dataset, and intermediate quantities in the calculation workbooks are kept as live spreadsheet formulas rather than pasted values, so each result can be traced back to the published source figure it derives from. All maps produced by the Atlas are reproduced as static figures in the article; no content is exclusive to the interactive version.
