Biological soil amendments were generated from dairy or beef cattle that were administered antibiotics (cephapirin and pirlimycin for dairy; chlortetracycline, sulfamethazine, and tylosin for beef) or no antibiotics. Greenhouse pots filled with 2 soil types (sandy loam or silty clay loam) were also hand-mixed with several soil amendments (chemical fertilizer, raw manure, static compost, or turned compost). Radishes (Raphanus sativus, Crunchy Royal) were then directly seeded in pots and grown to maturity. Bacteria were dislodged from the surface of the radish taproots, and DNA was extracted for analysis.
