Method and device for separating lumber packages in main and side goods

In a method for separating a pack of sawn timber obtained from a trunk into main and side goods with the aid of a separating conveyor， the sawn timber pack is conveyed in a longitudinal direction via a transport device of the separating conveyor on the underside. While the single or multi-handle main goods are supported by the transport device， one or more side goods boards are separated transversely to the conveying direction using the force of gravity and / or external force by briefly opening lateral holding elements for ejection. In order to be able to process logs with the largest possible diameter range， the side goods boards located on opposite sides of the sawn timber package are separated in two successive separation stages by opening the lateral holding elements of the separation conveyor in the successive separation stages on one side on a respective discharge side.
