Statewide Landcover and Trees Study (SLATS) Woody Vegetation Extent, Queensland

The Statewide Landcover and Trees Study (SLATS) Woody Vegetation Extent dataset provides comprehensive spatial information on woody vegetation presence/absence across Queensland. This dataset includes the 2018 woody extent baseline, established using Earth-i mosaics, and subsequent annual updates derived using the SLATS methodology with Sentinel-2 satellite imagery. Together, these datasets serve as a reference for monitoring changes in woody vegetation extent, clearing, and regrowth over time. <br></br> The 2018 baseline incorporates estimates of woody vegetation density and age, providing a comprehensive snapshot of Queensland’s woody vegetation as of August 2018. Ongoing annual updates use the SLATS methodology to track changes in woody vegetation extent relative to the baseline. The data is mapped at a nominal scale of 1:10,000, with woody vegetation classified as stands greater than 0.5 hectares in size, with a canopy density exceeding 10% crown cover, and adhering to a minimum width criterion of 20 metres for linear features.
