资源简介:

The growing importance of English as the primary language of science has created a need for effective methods of teaching scientific terminology across various disciplines, including astronomy. Astronomical terminology comprises a wide range of specialized lexical items that often present linguistic and conceptual challenges to English language learners. Traditional vocabulary instruction frequently emphasizes memorization, which may not adequately support long-term retention or meaningful application of scientific terms. This paper explores effective pedagogical strategies for teaching astronomical terminology in English language classrooms. It discusses learner-centered approaches, including Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), Communicative Language Teaching (CLT), Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT), and technology-enhanced instruction. The study also highlights the role of visual resources, authentic scientific materials, collaborative learning, and formative assessment in improving learners' vocabulary acquisition and scientific communication skills. The findings suggest that integrating interactive and context-based teaching strategies promotes deeper conceptual understanding, increases learner motivation, and enhances students' ability to use astronomical terminology accurately in academic contexts. The paper provides practical recommendations for English language teachers who aim to develop learners' scientific vocabulary through engaging and meaningful instructional practices.
