Rock texture descriptions of rocks from Heard Island, collected from 1986-2004

This file contains textural descriptions for rock samples collected in situ from the Drygalski Formation on Heard Island. The samples were collected during ANARE 86/87 (Jane Barling) and ANARE 2003/2004 (Doug Thost) and were held in private collections. The rock samples were supplied to the ASP4590 project - The re-awakening of a mantle plume the nature and petrogenesis of Neogene volcanism on the Central Kerguelen Plateau and are now catalogued at the University of Tasmania rock store and are publicly available. The file contains the following information:Sample_Num – Catalogue sample number.Field_Num – Field sample number allocated at the time of collection or at time the research team received the samples.Rock Type – Lithology of the sample.Geologist – Person who collected the sample. Unit – Heard Island stratigraphic Unit sample is allocated to.Textural Descriptions – Descriptions of the textures of the rock samples.
