Naïve plant communities and individuals may initially suffer in the face of reintroduced megafauna: an experimental exploration of rewilding from an African savanna rangeland
Data compares elephant browsing damage on Acacia drepanolobium trees inside and outside long-term herbivore exclosures located at MPala Research Center. Damage is estimated using relative scores ranging from 0 to 5 where;0: no damage, 1: 1-24% damage 2: 25-49% damage, 3: 50-74% damage, 4: 75-99% damage, 5: 100% damage, complete breakage of above ground stem. Plot: name of the sampled plottreatment: denotes whether megaherbivores are allowed to acess the plot (allowed) or they are fenced out (invaded)transect: data collected on two 4cm wide transects per each plotdistanceEDGE: distance form the edge of the gladeheight_class: height cetegory (m) NEWdamage: new elephant browsing damageOLDdamage: new elephant browsing damage
