This study aims to analyze via RNA-seq the transcriptome profiles of M. tuberculosis in response to different stresses, including excess iron, antibiotics, nutrient starvation, and detergent stress. Our transcriptional profiling focuses on small regulatory RNAs, transcription start sites, and differential gene expression to reveal different facets of regulatory RNomics that contribute to the intrinsic tolerance of M. tuberculosis to various stress conditions, including antibiotics. This will set the scene for a better comprehension of the fine-tuned transcriptional regulation in M. tuberculosis, as well as facilitate the identification of diagnostic markers and drug targets or the development of antisense antibiotics that can be scrutinized in future studies.
