Study 1 is a cross-sectional, correlational design involving 236 Hong Kong gifted adolescents in grade 8 to 10 to examine the predictive role of mindfulness on self-compassion in mitigating the negative impact of perfectionism on well-being outcomes, including immediate mood, life satisfaction, positive affect, and negative affect, through improved coping. Path analysis is conducted and the findings identified potential pathways and mechanisms that could inform intervention development in Study 2.Study 2 is a small scale intervention study involving a 6-week program consisting of four 50-minute session called Your Well-being is NOW (Y-WIN). It incorporates mindfulness and self-compassion elements to enhance well-being for Cantonese-speaking Hong Kong gifted / highly able adolescents. Surveys conducted at 3-timepoint: baseline, post-intervention and a 6-week follow-up. This study aims to examine the prediction of mindfulness and selfcompassion on well-being outcomes over time between treatment and control groups.
