Using four different ‘Omics layers, we determined structural (16S rRNA sequencing, cytometric microbiota profiling) and functional integrity (SCFAs, global metabolome) of the microbiota in relation to different easy-to-handle conditions. Storage time affected the microbiota on all ‘Omics levels.
