Week 4- Sweep Net Data Set

This experiment took place on September 28th, 2014 in the Stong Pond Grassland. It was conducted at approximately 3:00pm under cloudy skies with the temperature at 19˚C. A transect measuring tape was used to mark a path in the grassland. The distance of the path was 27 metres. Data was collected by sweeping and brushing on plants along the transect path with a sweep net (a canvas bag attached to a wooden rod) for two minutes. The abundance, total RTUs, and frequency of each RTU present in the sweep net was recorded. After recording the data the organisms were released. This method was repeated 10 times. The RTUs observed include: ant, fly, spider, stink bug, mosquito, wasp, grasshopper, beetle, damselfly, snail, hornet, and moth.
