Thai university students' attitudes toward practicing English speaking via the Clubhouse Application

This research investigated the attitudes of Thai university students toward practicing English speaking via the Clubhouse application. The participants of this study were 30 Thai non-English majors who were studying at a university in Bangkok and using the Clubhouse application as a tool for practicing English speaking. The data were collected through questionnaires with closed-ended questions. The results of the study indicated that all Thai university students agree with practicing English speaking via Clubhouse helps enhance knowledge in terms of skills needed about vocabulary for speaking and helps enhance speaking fluency. This finding also showed that the discussion topics from Clubhouse linked with the current situations and they were satisfied with practicing English speaking in Clubhouse. Moreover, the finding also revealed that they could choose the time to practice speaking English in Clubhouse. However, the findings of problems using Clubhouse to enhance English speaking was that information from some users was untrustworthy and they had to wait longer until they had an opportunity to speak in Clubhouse. All in all, they were satisfied with practicing English speaking via Clubhouse but they thought practicing English speaking in Clubhouse was equal to practicing English in a classroom.
