Soils at the Freeman-Paine Archaeological Site, Wellfleet, Massachusetts

This report, producing results from three days of field study at the Freeman-Paine Archaeological site, is an attempt to give some information on the soils at the site itself related to the age and dating of the site, as well as the planning of a trial run to see whether a study of soils at archaeological sites would provide enough significant information to warrant continuing an association of soil scientists and archaeologists for other studies. The site was visited on September 22-23, 1960 in company with Mr. Frederick Johnson and Mr. Ross Moffett, and on October 18-19,1960 with Dr. W.F. Harison, Forest Biologist at the Harvard Forest and Mr. Moffett. The document concludes with multiple letters of correspondence between Dr. Walter Lyford and Mr. Frederick Johnson concerning the organization and development of the site and soil testing.本报告基于弗里曼-佩因考古遗址（Freeman-Paine Archaeological Site）为期三日的野外调研成果，旨在披露该遗址的土壤相关信息，以辅助明确遗址年代与测年依据；同时阐述了一项预试验的规划方案，用以验证考古遗址土壤研究能否产出足够具有学术价值的信息，进而支撑土壤科学家与考古学家联合开展后续其他研究。 1960年9月22日至23日，调研团队与弗雷德里克·约翰逊先生、罗斯·莫菲特先生一同到访该遗址；同年10月18日至19日，团队则与哈佛森林（Harvard Forest）森林生物学家W.F.哈里森博士（Dr. W.F.
