NRS-17892 | Ledgers [Dumaresq Shire Council]

Under part VII division 2 of the Local Government (Shires) Act, 1905 (Act No. 33, 1905) a council was obliged to maintain true and regular accounts. The ledgers were accounting records incorporated in a standard public sector accounting system. Their purpose was to record all transactions relating to accounts and support the preparation of financial reports and statements as required under the Act.These ledgers contain all accounts maintained by the Dumaresq Shire Council, including rates, street accounts, maintenance and repairs, stores and materials, printing, stationery and advertising, and bank charges. Income and expenditure recorded in the ledger was accredited into the General Fund.
