TILE SAW WITH ADJUSTABLE FENCE AND METHOD OF USE

A tile saw (10， 110) includes a saw (20) with a cutting blade (115， 15.1， 15)， a frame (30) supporting the saw (20)， a table (25) supporting a workpiece (135) and being slidable relative to the frame (30)， and a rear fence (110) secured to the table (25). The rear fence (110) has an engagement surface (115， 146) and is adjustable between an operating position and a bypassed position. When in the bypassed position， the engagement surface (115， 146) of the rear fence (110) is no higher than even with the planar surface (95) of the table (25) to allow a workpiece (135) to extend beyond a rear edge (125) of the table (25). When in the operating position， the engagement surface (115， 146) of the rear fence (110) projects upwardly from the planar surface (95) of the table (25) to support the workpiece (135) during a cutting operation. The rear fence (110) can be adjusted between the operating and bypassed positions by using any one of a cam lever clamp (402， 403)， pin (210， 310) and guideway (205， 301)， or rotatable latch (165).
