Pogostemon cablin (Blanco) Benth. is one of species from the Lamiaceae or mint family, and has been widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical areas of Asia owing to high demand for its essential oil. Patchouli oil is complex like many essential oils, but distinct because it consists largely of sesquiterpenes hydrocarbons. The accumulations of patchoulol oil in different tissue of patchouli were significantly different.
