ENERGETIC PULSARS WITH UNDER-LUMINOUS WIND NEBULAE: UNLOCKING THE PULSAR EMISSIO
收藏资源简介:
Of the hundreds of rotationpowered pulsars with detected PWNe, threestand out by their extremely underluminous nebulae relative to theirspindown power. PSR J16175055, PSR J2022+3842, and PSR J18380655 displayremarkably similar properties, (1) a PWN to PSR flux ratio of <0.1 in the210 keV band, (2) anomalously flat (Gamma < 1) Chandra spectra, (3) highlymodulated pulsations (60100%), and (4) lack of a Fermi pulsed signal. Wepropose a NuSTAR and XMM broadband Xray observation of PSR J18380655, thebrightest in the NuSTAR band. By studying this rare class of pulsars wehope to address their exceptionalism, key to more fully understanding theemission mechanism of pulsars. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
