Unveiling the craftsmanship behind the architectural glazed tiles of the Yuan Dynasty (A.D. 1271-1368)

In this paper, a series of glazed tile samples that collected from the roofs of the main halls of Yongle Palace was studied by employing optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron microscopy with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDS), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermal dilatometry, and microscopic thermal stage analysis. The original data accompanying this article, which comprise XRD results for the tile body, XRF results for the tile body and glaze, as well as thermal expansion data, have been provided in the uploaded folders. Including the following data: XRD raw files for two types of glazed tiles; XRF results, which include the main components generated by the XRF instrument; and thermal expansion data, which provide the raw data for plotting the expansion curves.
