The present study aimed to identify a halophilic culture potently degrading histamine, and decipher its genomic insights to modulate the degree of histamine degradation. In this study, the novel halophilic bacterium, Bacillus piscicola FBU1786, was isolated from fish sauce samples. Its histamine breakdown was growth-associated with an optimal range of NaCl contents, pH, and temperature from 4% to 18%, 6.0 to 9.0, and 30 to 45 celsius degrees, respectively.
