Youth and democracy.<br>Topics: most effective actions for making own voice heard by decision-makers; participation in activities of selected organisations: sports club, youth club, cultural organisation, political organisation or political party, organisation with volunteering activities, organisation active in the domain of climate change or environmental issues, organisation promoting human rights or global development, other organisation, none of these; reasons for not taking part; personal actions taken to change society; preferred areas to change society: climate change and environmental protection, health and well-being, economic inequality and welfare expenditure, equal rights, human rights, wars and conflicts, democracy and rule of law, other; familiarity with the following ways to engage with the European Union: Citizens’ dialogue / EU Youth Dialogue / EU Youth Conference, public consultations, European elections, EU social media channels and websites, visit of the EU institutions, European Youth Week / European Youth Event, contact a Commissioner or MEP, participation in events organised by the EU in the own country, European Citizens’ Initiative, none of these; preferred sources of information on the European Union: social media, online press / podcasts / news platforms, printed press, TV, radio, conversations with friends / family / colleagues, school or university, other, none; participation in the following activities: studying / training / apprenticeship in another EU country, involvement in cultural or sports activities in another EU country, involvement in political activities in another EU country, volunteering or similar activities in another EU country, working in another EU country, none of these; reasons for stopping activity; effect of the aforementioned activities: increased knowledge of other European countries, increased feeling of European identity, increased interest in living in another European country later on, increased interest in European topics, increased interest in foreign languages, increased awareness of other cultures and values, increased self-confidence, will allow to adapt better to new situations in the future, will allow to make friends more easily, other, none of these; awareness of the following EU-funded opportunities for young people to stay in another EU country: Erasmus+ for students, Erasmus+ for pupils, Erasmus+ for apprentices, Erasmus+ youth exchanges, Erasmus for young entrepreneurs, DiscoverEU, European Solidarity Corps, none of these, other; impact of EU actions on personal daily life; expectations of the European Union for own generation: promoting environmentally friendly policy and fight climate change, increasing job opportunities for young people, fighting poverty and economic and social inequalities, playing a strong role in dealing with health challenges, preserving peace and reinforcing international security and promoting international cooperation, promoting Human Rights as well as democracy and common European values, promoting digitalisation of society, promoting inclusive societies, bringing young people from different parts of the EU together, other; intention to vote in the upcoming European elections; reasons for not planning to vote; attitude toward the following statements: learned to take care of the environment during education and training, being in a job that contributes to a better environment is important personally, attempt to adapt lifestyle to minimise own impact on the environment, consider a party’s environmental policy before deciding how to vote; frequency of sports activities per week; emotional or psychosocial problems in the last twelve months; education has equipped respondent with the necessary digital skills to identify disinformation.
Demography: age; sex; nationality; current type of education; highest completed level of full time education; employment status; occupation; professional position; household composition and household size; necessity for living with parents currently; type of community.
Additionally coded was: respondent ID; country; device used for interview; region; nation group; weighting factor.
