The NSW DPI Plant Pathology & Mycology Herbarium was founded in 1890 with the formation of the NSW Department of Agriculture. Herbarium specimens at this collection form the official plant disease records for NSW as well the states repository for mycological specimens (non-pathogenic fungi).
The herbarium is housed at the [https://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/dpi/about-us/research-and-development/centres/orange-research-station Orange Agricultural Institute ] and includes the following collections:
• Department of Agriculture, Rydalmere Herbarium - DAR
• University of Adelaide (plant pathology) – ADW
• State Forests of New South Wales Herbarium – SFNSW
Specimens cover fungi (plant pathogens, entomopathogens, beneficial fungi, native fungi), bacteria (pathogenic, beneficial), viruses, phytoplasma, oomycetes and nematodes. The herbarium includes a living culture collection of fungi, bacteria and plant viruses of over 12,000 cultures.
This collection is managed under ISO 9001 accreditation.
