Black Berry Islands Automatic Identification Systems Receiver Deployed 2020-01-22

The Smart Radio SR162 AIS Receiver (SN 171751144) was deployed on 2020-01-22 at Black Berry Islands. Black Berry Islands are located in the Coronation Gulf in the Kitikmeot Region of Nunavut, southwest of Victoria Island. This device is a Automatic Identification Systems Receiver. Land-based Automatic Identification System (AIS) receivers provide data that track marine vessels within range of the receiver. The data are used to monitor, understand and mitigate the impacts of marine shipping activities. It was deployed on a fixed platform. Data from this deployment were archived and made available through Ocean Networks Canada's Oceans 3.0 digital infrastructure, with quality assurance and derived data products following established practices.
