This series consists of Letters of Introduction to the Governor for persons arriving in the Colony of Victoria, possibly seeking employment in the Government service or seeking some other mark of favour from the Governor.Letters were often over the signature of the Secretary of State for the Colonies or other members of the Colonial Office, persons having been recommended to them by Members of Parliament or persons of rank and influence. Other letters were written by senior clergy, senior military officers and diplomatic representatives and socially prominent people in Britain.Letters in this series are more often from citizens with often two or three letters pertaining to the same person.
