资源简介:
This collection comprises of images from an archaeological building recording survey at the Victoria Mill. The boiler house and engine house were recorded by photography and measured plans. Victoria Mill was built as a steam-powered woollen mill, probably in the 1850s, but burned down in 1893 and was rebuilt the following year, after which it became used for cotton production. The engine house and boiler house are attached at one end, and parts of them appear to have survived the fire, though their historic internal arrangements are now only partly visible. In the rebuilt mill, power was transmitted from the engine to the upper floors of the mill via an external rope race.
