Sloth bears have a high rate of hepatobiliary adenocarcinoma and diet has been suggested to be a cause of this. We changed the diet of a sloth bear in human care from a high carbohydrate diet to a high carbohydrate diet. We tested whether this affected the bacterial community and the volatile fatty acids from sloth bear feces.
