Rolling ring with functional layer made of nickel alloy Inconel 718

A rolling ring with a diameter of 100 mm and an active width of 36 mm was manufactured as a functional demonstrator featuring a functional layer made of the nickel-based superalloy Inconel 718. A 5 mm thick layer was deposited using the Directed Energy Deposition (DED) process on a Meltio Engine system integrated with a Fanuc robotic arm. After the additive manufacturing process, the surface was machined to achieve the required geometry. The functionality of the component was verified through operational testing on a production line.
