This is the data collected as part of the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Cancer Awareness, Screening and Early Diagnosis Policy Research Unit (PRU) discrete choice experiment (DCE) and screening views survey. Data were collected in November and December 2024. The aims of this study were: - To quantify the harms that people are willing to accept for benefits from cancer screening; - To estimate, for different levels of harms, the proportion of people who are likely to take up screening with no benefit; - To identify characteristics of people likely to accept greater and fewer harms; - To update understanding of enthusiasm for cancer screening in the UK. The dataset contains: - Information and data dictionary - explanation of each of the variables - 1 demographics and survey administration - anonymised participant demographics, cancer history, and cancer worry and perceived likelihood along with administrative survey data such as randomisation arm - 2 DCE responses - participants' choice responses to each question within the DCE - 3 DCE evaluation - participants' evaluation of the DCE including ease and prioritisation of the attributes - 4 screening views - participants' beliefs and views about cancer screening - 5 DCE question matrix The study protocol, consent form and participant information sheet along with the full survey outline are also attached with this record.
