Comparison of Country and Metropolitan General Practice, 1990-1991

The comparison of country and metropolitan general practice was intended to provide a description of country general practice in Australia. It was also intended to determine the extent to which country and metropolitan general practice differ in terms of the characteristics of the practitioners, the morbidity managed, treatments provided and the availability of support services, specialists and hospitals. This study was run in conjunction with the Australian Morbidity and Treatment Survey (00644). Background variables include age and sex of the patient and doctor, education and other qualifications, languages spoken, size of practice and length of time in general practice.
