资源简介:
This data collection consists of Tropical Cyclone (TC) Potential Intensity (PI) calculated from the ERA5 reanalysis dataset (1979 to 2023) and a selection of global climate models that contribute to the sixth iteration of the Climate Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP6). PI is a theoretical upper limit for tropical cyclone intensity useful in determining changes in the most intense TCs, given sea surface temperature and profiles of atmospheric temperature and humidity. \nA number of modelled scenarios were analysed including future climate change scenarios (2015 to 2100) using the Shared Socio-economic Pathways (SSPs) as described by the IPCC Sixth Assessment report: SSP126, SSP370 and SSP585, as well as the historical period (1950 to 2023).\nThis work was funded through Project 2.5 of the National Environmental Science Program's Earth System and Climate Change Hub.\nLineage: The method used to calculate TCPI was adapted from the tcpyPI python package made available by Gilford, D.M. (available here https://pypi.org/project/tcpypi/1.3.5/). \nThe intermediate variables used to calculate PI are also saved within each annual NetCDF file.
