The water depth and temperature data were collected as part of Tropical Ocean Global Atmosphere (TOGA) project from dozen ships between January 10, 1990 and November 27, 1990. The originator's bathythermograph (SBT and XBT) data were submitted on a 3.5 inch diskette by Jean-Paul Rebert, Institut Francais de Recherche pour l'Exploitation de la MER (IFREMER), Plouzane, France. The data have been converted and are now available on line in C116 (XBT) and C125 (SBT) file formats of NODC.
