We evaluated the capacity of plants in constructed wetland systems (CWSs) containing oil sands process-affected water (OSPW), compared with reference reverse-osmosis water (ROW), to remove naphthenic acid fraction components (NAFCs) and to drive associated changes in the root microbiome and functional gene expression, as assessed by metatranscriptomics.
