Digital Archive from Archaeological Investigations at Misery, Providence Hill, Bursledon, Southampton, Hampshire, 2022-2023

This collection comprises images, site records, reports, GIS, and spreadsheet data from archaeological investigations at land off Misery, Providence Hill, Bursledon, Southampton, Hampshire. Wessex Archaeology was commissioned by Foreman Homes Ltd, where they carried out an archaeological evaluation in November 2022 and February 2023, followed by a strip, map and sample excavation in May 2023. Work was undertaken ahead of the proposed residential development. The 11th-12th century findings are of regional interest, alongside the remains of the field systems, during this period of political and social change. The charcoal-filled pits are of some significance with further analysis needed.
