MITIGATION EFFECT OF HYDROGEN-RICH WATER ON CADMIUM STRESS IN LETTUCE AND ITS MECHANISM

Cadmium (Cd) is one of the non-essential, odorless heavy metals that can seriously pollute the environment and, when accumulated to high levels in leaves, inhibits photosynthesis by interfering with the electron transport chain, blocking the photosystem and limiting the activity of enzymes in the Calvin cycle.Most of the current research on hydrogen rich water has focused on plant stress tolerance, especially on plants mainly Arabidopsis and rice, and little research has been done on other herbaceous crops. Therefore, in this study, we focused on the specific mechanism of exogenous HRW treatment on alleviating Cd toxicity under Cd stress.
