Satellite-based thermal analysis of peri-urban brick kilns in León, Mexico using Landsat 8 and paired buffer analysis (2024–2026)

This repository contains the source code, processed datasets, and statistical analysis used in the study evaluating the thermal behavior of peri-urban brick kilns and paired bare-soil control sites in León, Guanajuato, Mexico. The methodology is based on Landsat 8 Collection 2 Level-2 imagery processed in Google Earth Engine, including Land Surface Temperature (LST), NDVI, NDBI, NDMI, BSI, Urban Index (UI), MNDWI, and IBI. Statistical analyses were performed in Python using paired Wilcoxon tests, Mann–Whitney U tests, Spearman correlations, and temporal trend analyses.
