Tap water samples were collected from homes, businesses, and hospitals in Genesee County, Michigan. Legionella pneumophila was isolated from these samples and compared to clinical samples of Legionella pneumophila from Michigan hospitals. The dataset also includes positive and negative controls submitted as QA/QC and non-Legionella strains isolated using the standard methods for Legionella isolation and are relevant for consideration of the potential false positives that can be produced from these methods.
