XMM GT observation of a Broad Absorption Line Quasars

GT We propose to observe the BroadAbsorption Line (BAL) QuasarLBQSvirgul22121759 with XMM. This is one of the few BALQSO detectedwith ROSAT with a PSPC count rate of 0.049+/0.002 cts/s. A 50 ksexposure time yields virgul 22,000 cts with EPICpn (thin) and 850 ctswith one RGS, i.e. a S/N ratio of virgul 3 per 10virgulev channel whencombining both RGS and all orders. The spectra will be used tomeasure the Xray absorption, compare it with the optical absorbingcolumn and infer the physical conditions of the BAL gas. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
