The Effect of a Body of Water on the Physical Traits of the Solidago

On the 14th and 21st of October, the influence of a source of water on the physical traits of the species goldenrod will be determined. This investigation shows how plant height and the number of flowers is affected by its distance from a body of water and the frequency of pollinator visitation. This experiment will be conducted at the grassland east of Stong Pond from 3:30-5:50 on both days. The experiment requires replicates at varying distances from the pond, for this reason three transects will be placed positioned from the pond to the outskirts of the grassland. Along the transect quadrats will be placed at intervals of 3 meters, each with a pan trap matching the colour of the Solidago placed in the center. The yellow bowls half filled with soapy water will be required to capture the insects that assist in the pollination of this species. These pan traps will be collected at the same time the following day, as a longer exposure will yield more results.The plant in the center of each quadrat placed will be the one used to represent the average height and the average number of flowers for the Solidago in the cluster.
