Evaluation of the neuroprotective potential of ethyl acetate fraction of Swietenia macrophylla to ameliorate Alzheimer's Disease pathology

My thesis explores the potential of ethyl acetate fraction of Swietenia macrophylla (SMEAF) to ameliorate Alzheimer's Disease (AD) pathology. The study uses a mouse model where brain inflammation is triggered by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) to mimic AD pathology. Various experiments were conducted to assess cognitive behavior, gene expression, protein changes, neurotransmitters expression and gut microbiota alterations associated with AD. The results showed that SMEAF improved memory, reduced inflammation, and restored gut microbiota balance. These findings highlight the therapeutic potential of SMEAF for AD management.
