Data were corrected with respiratory Ci. Maximal HCO3- uptake rates were calculated from maximal Ci uptake, assuming that 98.1% Ci was HCO3- at pH 8. Data were presented as mean ± SD (n = 6). Details of relative abundance of SbtA homologs were included in the Results section. Estimated relative abundances were based on Fig. 5: SbtA7942 (100%), SbtA6803 (41%), SbtA7002 (33%), SbtA 7001 (27%), SbtA5701 (12%) and SbtA6307 (39%).Kinetics for HCO3- uptake properties of SbtA homologs expressed in E. coli.
