资源简介:
Powdery mildew is a serious fungal disease for many horticultural crops including melon. In melon, this disease is caused by two fungal pathogens belonging to Erysiphaceae family namely Podosphaera xanthii and Golovinomyces cichoracearum. Among the two P. xanthii is more prevalent particularly in Asia and is considered as the primary causative agent for powdery mildew in melons. This fungus is obligate biotrophic parasites in nature i.e., it depends on host plants to survive. Because of its nature, it is difficult to grow them in artificial culture medium, which make it difficult to study the morphological characteristics of the fungus. Therefore, there is a little information about the races of the fungus which makes it difficult to control the disease. Until now, the races of P. xanthii are differentiated based on their reaction with different melon cultivars, which is sometimes inaccurate cause of various biotic and abiotic factors. Knowledge on the fungal races is important for the management of the disease. Fungal genomes are important in plant research for understanding the diseases, diagnosis or to manage the disease. Here we sequenced the whole genome of P. xanthii race 1 in melon.
