Global maize yield public datasets list - Global attainable maize yield shifts under climate change and varying fertilization strategies

We include here information on the DOI and locations of identified field observation data that were compiled through a systematic search across five open-access data repositories: Figshare (https://figshare.com/), Harvard Database (https://library.harvard.edu/services-tools/harvard-dataverse), Gardian (https://gardian.cgiar.org/), Zenodo (https://zenodo.org/records/), and Dimensions (https://app.dimensions.ai/details/data_set/). The Boolean search terms in those data repositories included "maize," “maize” and “production”, “maize” and “yield”, and “maize yield loss”, combined with continent names. This search yielded 6,955 datasets in total across all data repositories. Datasets were excluded if they lacked grain yield data, consisted of predicted /gridded data rather than field observations, were not publicly accessible under CC0, CC BY or CC BY 4.0 licences, or were missing critical information about location and year of measurement. Following the exclusion criteria, 474 accessible datasets were deemed relevant.
