DNA-seq metagenome data of Zhikong scallops (Chlamys farreri) (PRJCA031103)

Here, we focused on the gut viruses of scallops, examining 13 samples selected for their varied health statuses. We utilized transmission electron microscopy to visualize the intestinal tissues of both healthy and muribund scallops. To delve deeper into the role of viruses in the gut, we employed a reference-independent method to extract and assemble viral sequences, reducing interference from host and bacterial DNA. This approach allowed us to identify key viral clusters within the scallop gut viruses and to explore their phylogenetic and ecological characteristics.
