资源简介:
Part 1: The panel session addresses the complexities and challenges faced by Latin American literature in defining its critical role, the sociocultural commitment of literature, and its artistic autonomy. The panelists offer diverse perspectives, ranging from literature as a socio-political tool to literature as an autonomous artistic expression. The discussion grapples with questions around literature’s relationship to historical and political realities versus its intrinsic expressive and humanistic value Part 2: Jose Mindlin discusses the evolution of social and political critique in Brazilian literature, beginning with Castro Alves, who contributed to the abolition of slavery through poetry. The panel also discusses the function of literature as a way of social critique in censoring and repressive governments that intensify the critical role of literature in Latin American. Part 3: Alazraki introduces the idea that art and literature generate reality through language, which is an expressive and epistemological medium, not a simple photograph of reality. Carlos questions the generality of the concept of the critical function of literature and suggests analyzing specific works to better understand its scope, pointing out that there has also been uncritical literature in Latin America. José clarifies that literature committed to social reality should not be confused with partisan propaganda and that there is the possibility of pure artistic creation within literature. Jaime Concha and other participants delve into how historical and political contexts, such as coups d'état or authoritarian regimes, influence the genesis and development of literary works, without reducing them to mere reflections of those contexts. Part 4: The literature panels draws to a close with final remarks and general questions from the audience.
