SNP data for Swedish domestic pigs and wild boar

Wild boar (Sus scrofa) had been extinct in Sweden since the 17th century
when it reemerged after escapees from enclosures in the 1970s and 1980s.
This study focused on investigating the genetic diversity and origin of
the Swedish wild boars. We generated SNP chip genotypes for wild boar
populations from four Swedish regions (Skåne, Blekinge, Södermanlad, and
Uppland) as well as from Swedish domestic pigs. The genotyping was done
with the GeneSeek Genomic profiler Porcine 80K chip. Our results show that
the investigated Swedish wild boar populations are genetically distinct
from Swedish domestic pigs. We also show that the wild boar populations
from Skåne and Blekinge are genetically very similar.
